Contributions to CLZ

Chiawa Estates

A big thank you to Mark Burton of Chiawa Estates who very generously loaned CLZ one of the Chiawa Estate tractors to haul sand and building supplies since the beginning of construction - we could not have done without it.

Kanyemba Lodge

Riccardo Garbaccio has donated and continues to maintain a motorbike for CLZ that is stationed at Kanyemba Lodge for specific use by the chairman of the Chiawa Community Resource Board (CRB) to assist Mr Sakala with transport within Chiawa GMA for administration purposes.

Terranova Estates

Former CLZ Chairman, Colin Street of Terranova Estates in Mazabuka who is a long-standing visitor to the Lower Zambezi and is about to become CLZ’s new neighbour has kindly donated USD 2,500 toward CLZ operations.

Yancey Walker Productions

After a 3 year absence Yancey made a return trip to the Lower Zambezi for 3 weeks spending time with Ian and Lea at CLZ and Kellie Leigh of AWDC. She brought with her from New York a collection of t-shirts for the orphans of Mugurameno Primary School that she personally distributed and very generously donated a professional video camera and tripod to CLZ that will hopefully enable us to obtain quality footage of the organization's activities to aid in the Environmental Education Project (EEP), future fundraising and public awareness programmes.

Elefriends

Friends of CLZ on the 3 peaks challengeDue mainly to the insurance crisis that has affected many small charities in Australia since September 11th Elefriends has sadly had to close it’s doors. The organisation’s closing contribution to CLZ was AUD 2,500 toward much needed operational expenses. CLZ would like to thank Barbara Westbrook and all at Elefriends for their continued support over the past 3 years and hope that they keep in touch in the future.

Elefence International

Thanks go to Dick Houston and all at Elefence International who have succeeded with securing a grant from US Fish and Wildlife to cover the procurement of patrol kit. Thank you all for your hard work.

Marilyn Chase of Elefence International has personally donated a Multimedia Projector to CLZ for use in the new Environmental Education Centre and in conjunction with CLZ presentations. Once more the projector came packaged and padded by 30 sets of school sporting uniforms that are destined for Mugurameno Primary School.

3 Peaks Challenge

A team of Ian & Lea’s old friends and colleagues from Encounter took to the mountains in the UK to raise funds for CLZ. As a result CLZ is GBP 1,417 better off.

CLZ Conservation & Education Levy

Thank you to all corporate members who have supported the Levy for 2003. For those of you who have incorporated the cost within your pricing we look forward to receiving your cheques at the end of season.
